West London is one of the easiest parts of London to access, with the M4 leading directly into the heart of this area. As well as this, from Central London, major trunk roads such as Cromwell Road lead right through Hammersmith to the Westbound M4.
On-street parking can be quite difficult as much of West London is residential and often quite congested. Parking charges, including at off-street locations, can also be very high.
West London is well connected to the city and beyond with multiple train and tube stations, so it is worth considering parking elsewhere and commuting in by public transport.

There are a plethora of off-street car parks in West London but despite being less central, many car parks here will still charge a very high rate. The most affordable options are council-operated – of which there are several dotted around across the London boroughs of Hounslow, Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham. However, these locations are generally smaller than the larger, more expensive commercially-run sites.
On such option operated by Ealing Council is Salisbury Street car park (Acton, London, W3 8NW). This is an affordable option in a great location for visitors to anywhere in Acton. The car park is open 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday, but charges only apply from 8am-6pm each day – so despite the often limited spaces, it is a viable consideration.
Likewise, Scrubs Lane car park (Hammersmith, London, W12 0HU) operated by Hammersmith and Fulham Council is a great alternative option to some of the more expensive options nearby. It is located near to Hammersmith Hospital in the White City area, not far from QPR’s Loftus Road Stadium. It must be noted that there is often very limited spaces, but this site too is open 24/7 – only charging from 8am-6.30pm, Monday-Friday.

West London is very well connected by rail with multiple stations providing National Rail, London Overground and London Underground services, primarily on the District, Piccadilly, Central and Hammersmith and City Lines in order of prevalence.
London buses are also a fantastically affordable and convenient way of getting around the city when the rail networks aren’t for you, with many routes passing through the area.

Much of West London is within Controlled Parking Zones across the London boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham. As a result, parking is largely limited to pay-and-display or resident permit holder only bays. It is advised to look for overnight parking in council-operated locations, where prices are often considerably cheaper but locations might not be as favourable.
