Parking made easy
Information about parking in Islington
Islington helpfully lines the southern starting point of the A1 – Islington High Street – making for easy access into the area. It is also located just off the central A501 trunk road which surrounds Central London.
On-street parking is largely limited to pay-and-display or resident permit spaces due to the area’s dense population and proximity to Central London, but there are plenty of options available. There are also a few off-street car parks throughout Islington which should help ensure you find the right parking spot for you.
JustPark provides information on lots of parking options across Islington – including spaces on-street, off-street and those that are reservable, from driveways to car parks.
Parking on-street in Islington can be quite challenging due its reasonably central location coupled with its high population density. Islington Council as a result has introduced many Controlled Parking Zones to ensure that residents can park outside their properties, as well as to help ease congestion from nearby red routes such as Islington High Street. However, there are a large number of pay-and-display spaces available.
The area of Islington is largely within Controlled Parking Zones B and E of the London Borough of Islington. Parking charges apply from 8.30am-6.30pm, Monday-Friday, and from 8.30am-1.30pm on Saturday.

There are a number of off-street car parks around Islington for visiting drivers to choose from but prices can be quite high. A particularly convenient option is Angel Central car park (21 Parkfield Street, Islington, N1 0PS) which opens from 7am until 0.30am, Sunday-Thursday, and until 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays – but cars are able to remain when car park is closed. It charges quite a high hourly rate from 7am-7pm, but then a significantly reduced rate from 7pm-7am.
A cheaper alternative still in close conjunction to Islington High Street is the Business Design Centre car park (52 Upper Street, Islington, N1 0PW). This car park operates 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday, and is quite a bit cheaper than some other nearby off-street car parks. It too has a separate reduced hourly fare between 7pm-7am versus 7am-7pm.
JustPark offers a wide choice of off-street parking spaces in Islington – in both council and commercially-run car parks, as well as at hotels, offices and on private driveways. You can browse these options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.
