Information about parking in Westminster
Reaching Westminster by car is quite simple in theory, by following on from the A5 through Hyde Park Corner. However, Westminster can be quite challenging to drive to – as heavy congestion can make any journey more lengthy than anticipated, at any time.
Also, much of Westminster is located within the London Congestion Charge Zone, so it is always worth bearing this in mind when driving and parking within the area – as you will incur an added cost of £11.50 during certain hours.
Parking on-street or off-street in Westminster can be both challenging and expensive and, with the fantastic public transport at your disposal, it is always worth considering parking somewhere less central and taking the tube or bus the rest of the way.
JustPark provides information on a multitude of parking options across Westminster, many of which are reservable – both on-street and off-street, from driveways to car parks.

Pay-and-display spaces in Westminster typically operate 8.30am-6.30pm, but always be aware to park in designated bays – as many roads, such as those on the red route, prohibit parking or stopping altogether.

Westminster has many off-street car parks. All are commercially-run and tariffs can vary substantially, with some locations charging a very high hourly and daily rate.
A particularly convenient choice is Q-Park Westminster (SW1P 3RX) located just a short walk from Westminster Abbey. There is a good amount of spaces available in this secure off-street car park operating 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday. However, be aware that as with many car parks in Westminster, prices at this location are very high. You can locate and view availability information for this car park via the search form or interactive map above.
JustPark offers a wide choice of reservable off-street spaces nearby – in both council and commercially-run car parks, as well as at hotels, offices and on private driveways. You can browse these options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.

Westminster is well served by public transport thanks to the much-heralded London Underground system – which connects Westminster station, amongst many others in the nearby vicinity, to a network of tube stops across the city.
London has an integrated transport system through Transport For London, which allows you to get about the city all on one travelcard via bus, river or tube. Furthermore, London Victoria and London Waterloo are not too far away for you to get further afield if you so wish.
Blue Badge holders are entitled to 4 hours free parking in any City of Westminster Blue Badge bay – but unlike in much of the UK, disabled drivers cannot park on single yellow lines (during controlled hours) or double yellow lines in Westminster.

Westminster is one of the busiest areas of a busy city. As a result, on-street parking restrictions are quite prevalent. Red routes are in operation throughout much of the area: single red lines indicate no stopping during times of operation, and double red lines indicate stopping is prohibited at all times. Parking is not permitted at any time on any red route.
Most on-street parking is limited to pay-and-display bays, so make sure you double check that you’ve followed the rules for your space and are parked legally.
You find more information on the JustPark map, where we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in at the times you search for.
On-street parking controls do not apply on any Bank Holiday or on Sundays and free parking is available in any pay-and-display bay.
Overnight parking is offered at many of the off-street car parks in Westminster, but special nightly rates are still somewhat expensive – despite their convenience.

If you’re not familiar with Westminster, it’s kind of a big deal. The Palace of Westminster and its best friend Big Ben dominate the skyline on the banks of the Thames in this famous area of Central London. The buildings in Westminster are truly fascinating, with centuries of history – but you don’t have to be a politician to frequent this part of the city, as the river and nearby St. James’s Park offer all you need to relax whilst the city rushes about its business around you.
