Additional Information
Some additional information about parking in albert dock, to cater to all your parking needs
On-street parking
Albert Dock is located within Liverpool’s city centre, which employs Controlled Parking Zones throughout the vicinity. As a result, all drivers must pay to park their vehicles between 8 am and 6 pm. On-street parking is not recommended, as the waterfront is flanked by a busy thoroughfare, Strand Street, which has double yellow lines running the length of the road. Fortunately, plenty of off-street parking spaces are available within easy reach. Those who are intent on parking on the street should consider heading across the water for cheaper fees.
Off-street parking
This is perhaps the best option for visitors seeking a secure and convenient place to store their vehicle while exploring Albert Dock. The site has a designated car park on the Britannia side, open 24/7, although prices can exceed £15 for a 24-hour stay. However, there are plenty more choices a little further afield, which range from local hotels, such as the Ibis and the Hilton, to private parking spaces and driveways. The JustPark app will always find the most suitable option for you, whatever the time of day.
Public transport
Reaching the dock by public transport is simple, with the Liverpool James Street station accessible on foot in just five minutes. The city’s major transport hub, Lime Street station, is a 20-minute walk away. The C4, C5 and City Link bus services also stop in front of this historic landmark. Those arriving by National Express can enjoy instant admission from the Liverpool ONE coach station.
Disabled parking
Blue Badge holders are actually entitled to park in any pay and display on-street bay free of charge and without a time limit. Roads with single or double yellow lines can also be used for parking, for a maximum of three hours. Some public off-street options also offer free disabled parking, although Albert Dock’s designated car park applies standard charges even to Blue Badge holders.
Parking restrictions & event days
Parking near Albert Dock can be a completely stress-free experience as long as you plan ahead. As previously mentioned, restrictions are applied to the nearby Strand Street, and visitors should take into account any events being held, which may cause disruptions.
Overnight, weekends & bank holidays
On-street parking fees apply seven days a week, including bank holidays, across Liverpool’s city centre. To check out the rates during holidays, simply enter your dates into the JustPark app to receive accurate and up-to-date information.
Drop-off and pick-up
Salthouse Quay and Gower Street each host designated coach drop-off and pick-up spots, although attempting to stop anywhere with your car in the area is not advisable, as double yellow lines are present throughout.
Nearby attractions
Aside from the multitude of attractions at the docks themselves, which include the Tate Liverpool, the Beatles Story and the International Slavery Museum, a brief stroll will deposit you in the heart of the city centre. From here, you can take advantage of the abundant shopping options and head to the lively Matthew Street for an evening of live entertainment at Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club.
