Additional Information
Some additional information about parking in Liverpool, to cater to all your parking needs
On-street parking
Liverpool city centre is made up of two distinct Controlled Parking Zones – the inner and outer zones. Parking is limited to pay-and-display in the whole area typically operating 8am-6pm, Monday-Sunday. All the on-street fares in Liverpool are reasonable for city centre parking but spaces can be limited at busier times.
Outside of these zones, there are a few Resident Permit restricted zones where parking is prohibited for visiting drivers, but these areas will be well signposted so be sure to check that you are not parked illegally.
You can use our parking map to find information about on-street parking in Liverpool that’s available for your trip.
Off-street parking
There are multiple off-street car parks with thousands of spaces to choose from across the city, so visiting drivers shouldn’t struggle to find a parking space.
Liverpool City Council run several off-street car parks within the city largely offering affordable rates compared to their privately-run competitors. Mount Pleasant car park (38 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, L3 5TB) is located in close proximity to both Liverpool Central and Liverpool Lime Street stations and has over 1500 spaces perfect for those wishing to park and travel on. This car park is operational from 7am-8pm, Monday-Saturday, and 9am-8pm on Sunday – so this does mean there is no access to vehicles outside of these times.
One of the largest off-street car parks, privately run by Q-Park, is the Liverpool ONE car park (35 Strand Street, Liverpool, L1 8LT) situated within the Liverpool ONE shopping centre. However, with its nearly 2000 spaces and 24/7 operation, this car park can serve those visiting the nearby Echo Arena and Albert Dock.
Liverpool has 9 rail-based park and ride locations serving the city, primarily from the Wirral Peninsula, in which you only require a short train journey across the River Mersey to the centre.
JustPark offers a wide choice of reservable off-street parking across Liverpool. You can browse the options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.

The city is served by two main rail networks: Network Rail primarily operates main line national trains, whereas local underground trains are operated by Merseyrail, comprehensively connecting much of the Merseyside Area.
Liverpool’s principal mainline railway station, Liverpool Lime Street, sits on the West Coast Main Line with regular trains to and from London Euston. However, the smaller but busier Liverpool Central nearby acts as the main hub for the underground Merseyrail network.
As well as this, Liverpool has two main bus stations – with Queen Square bus station providing services primarily to the north and west of the city, whilst Liverpool One bus station provides services to the south and east.
Disabled parking
There are many designated disabled bays throughout the city, and Blue Badge holders may park in any of Liverpool’s on-street pay-and-display spaces and most council-operated car parks free of charge – and for no maximum time.
As with most of the UK, disabled drivers displaying their Blue Badge can park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours when there are no clearly signalled loading bans.

Parking restrictions & event days
Liverpool city centre consists of an Inner and Outer Controlled Parking Zone, which restrict on-street parking to pay-and-display all through the week in the day time.
There are also Football Match Residents Parking Zones (which may be referred to as FMRPZs) which are special event specific restrictions for the surrounding areas of both Liverpool’s Anfield and Everton’s Goodison Park stadiums on match days. Full details on the specifics of these restrictions can be found on the Liverpool City Council website.
On the JustPark map, we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in during the time period you search for.
