Information about parking near Waterloo

London Waterloo station is the UK’s largest and busiest train station, with National Rail and underground services predominantly serving the Southwest of the country and all of London.

London Waterloo is located on the Southbank in the London Borough of Lambeth, and they administer parking charges in the area. On-street parking in and around the station comes at a very high cost, even for London, so it would be advisable to look for off-street options nearby – or park slightly less central and use public transport to get to the station.

JustPark provides information on lots of parking options near Waterloo – both on-street and off-street, from private driveways to public car parks.

Additional Information

Some additional information about parking in waterloo, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

Much of the area surrounding London Waterloo is a Controlled Parking Zone. On-street parking charges are enforced by the London Borough of Lambeth Council and although they do provide a number of on-street pay-and-display spaces, they come at a particularly high hourly rate. On-street charges typically operate 8.30am-6.30pm, Monday-Friday, but many have a maximum stay which will be clearly signposted.

You can use the JustPark map to find information on available on-street parking spaces near Waterloo station.

  • Off-street parking

London Waterloo has an off-street car park on-site, which gives you quick and easy access to the station at a reasonable rate for Central London. London Waterloo Station car park (Station Approach, SE1 8SW) operates 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday, but has a very limited amount of spaces – meaning that finding one is unlikely at busy times. You can view availability information for this car park on JustPark.

An alternative off-street option is Waterloo car park (39 York Road, SE1 7NQ) located between the station and the London Eye. This car park also offers parking 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday, at an equally affordable rate – but it is larger than the on-site car park and only a short walk to the station.

JustPark offers a range of reservable off-street spaces nearby – in council-run and privately-operated car parks, as well as at hotels, offices and residential buildings. You can browse these options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.

    Location Operator Price Max Stay

Cornwall Road (Doon Street) Apcoa (UK) Ltd £5.50 / hour

London - Waterloo London Borough of Lambeth £3.00 / hour

  • Public transport

London Waterloo is the busiest train station in the UK, with nearly 100 million people passing through it each year. This high influx is due to the fantastic transport services on offer – with a London Underground station serving 4 main city lines, 24 National Rail platforms, and buses that can be caught from just outside the station to all of the surrounding areas of London.

  • Disabled parking

Disabled parking spaces are available at London Waterloo station car park, and there is also one Blue Badge holder space by the entrance on Station Approach Road.

Blue Badge holders may park on-street in designated disabled parking bays – and even bays that are Resident Permit restricted – but maximum stay restrictions and parking charges will often still apply.

Disabled drivers displaying their Blue Badge may also stop on single or double red lines at any time near the station, to pick up or drop off – as long as the vehicle is moved thereafter as quickly as possible.

You can filter when searching on JustPark to show all our parking spaces with disabled access near London Waterloo (select this option by clicking ‘Filters’ on the search results page).

  • Parking restrictions & event days

London Waterloo and its surrounding area is within a Controlled Parking Zone, and due to its location within Central London parking here can be very limited. Due to the volume of congestion within this area, parking in on-street pay-and-display spaces around the station will also usually have a maximum stay notified by signage on location.

On the JustPark parking map, we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in during your required time period.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

Overnight parking is available at both London Waterloo station car park and Waterloo car park (listed above) in which they offer a similar, reasonable rate of fare.

Enter your dates and times on our search results page to see what’s available overnight.

On-street charges only apply from 8.30am-1.30pm on Saturdays and there are no restrictions on Sundays. Some pay-and-display spaces are still in operation on Bank Holidays, but mostly charges do not apply. Always check local signage to make sure though.

  • Drop-off and pick-up

You must always be careful when picking up and dropping off at London Waterloo, as there are many streets in which stopping is prohibited or reserved solely for London taxi cabs. The main pick up and drop off point is along the one-way street Station Approach Road, but queuing and congestion here are likely.

  • Nearby attractions

London Waterloo is located on the Southbank, firmly within Central London and only a short walk from the River Thames. You don’t have to use signs or your mobile phone to find the local attractions from this station, as the looming presence of both the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye nearby are hard to miss. London Waterloo puts you at the very heart of the capital city, and you can walk or catch a train to just about anywhere you fancy going.
