Information about parking in Manchester
Manchester is the largest city in North West England and benefits from great motorway links to the rest of the country. For example, the M6 provides easy access to both the north and south of England, whereas the M62 conveniently connects Manchester to other northern cities such as Liverpool and Leeds .
On-street parking can be quite difficult in the centre of Manchester on all days, but there is a wide range of off-street car parks to choose from.
Park and ride is also definitely worth considering, as Manchester’s Metrolink tram service offers free parking for all their customers during the hours of their service.
JustPark provides information on lots of parking options across Manchester, many of which are reservable – both on-street and off-street spaces, from driveways to car parks.
Additional Information
Some additional information about parking in Manchester, to cater to all your parking needs
On-street parking
On-street parking in Manchester city centre is limited to pay-and-display bays, which typically operate 8am-8pm every day of the week across the city. These pay-and-display bays operate in four distinct fare zones (1-4). Price wise, you can pay around £3.00 per hour in some of the more central parking bays, but considerably less a little further out – on some streets East of Manchester Piccadilly for example.
You can use our parking map to find information on available on-street parking spaces across Manchester.
Off-street parking
There are a number of different off-street car parks to choose from when driving into Manchester. NCP operates several off-street car parks in Manchester City Centre, but prices at these locations can be quite high. The largest of their off-street car parks is Manchester Arndale (High Street, Nicholas Croft, Manchester, M4 1AZ), situated very close to both the central retail district and the Northern quarter. This car park operates 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday, and has well over 1,000 spaces – including many disabled spaces and good facilities.
Park and ride is also a useful option, and can save you money. For example, parking at tram stops is free for Metrolink customers and can provide a cheap parking alternative before travelling into the city by public transport. Transport for Greater Manchester has produced a map of all their available park and ride car parks.
JustPark lists a range of reservable off-street spaces across the city, in both public and private car parks – particularly around popular destinations like Manchester Victoria and the Etihad Stadium. You can browse these options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.

Manchester is served nationally by two main train stations, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria stations. They both provide wide-reaching access and frequent transport links to the rest of the country.
Locally, bus and MetroLink tram services serve the city very well with a comprehensive network of routes making all areas of Manchester feel closely connected.
Disabled parking
Blue Badge holders can use parking bays across the city for free and for an unlimited amount of time. There are also a number of disabled parking bays reserved solely for Blue Badge holders available at all times.
Furthermore, Blue Badge holders may park for up to three hours on single or double yellow lines as long as there are no loading restrictions. Most city centre car parks also offer disabled parking bays.
You can also filter when searching on JustPark to show all our parking spaces with disabled access in Manchester (select this option by clicking on ‘Filters’ on the search results page).
Parking restrictions & event days
In the city centre, on-street parking restrictions are in operation – in any Controlled Parking Zone, between 8am-8pm every day of the week.
On event days, such as at both Old Trafford Cricket ground and football stadium, parking in the surrounding area is heavily restricted and largely reserved for permit holders only. Please check before your travel.
On the JustPark map, we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in during your required times.
Overnight, weekends & bank holidays
There are no charges for parking on Bank Holidays, but parking restrictions largely still apply on Sundays.
Paid on-street parking bays can be used free of charge for 12 hours from 8pm until 8am the following day. Alternatively, for a more secure overnight park, many of Manchester’s car parks are accessible 24 hours a day.
NCP are probably the best option when it comes to overnight parking – offering an affordable overnight rate at their Manchester Bridgewater Hall, Manchester China Town, Manchester Chorlton Street, Manchester Arndale and Manchester Sackville Street car parks.
At certain Metrolink park & ride sites, overnight parking is also permitted on Friday and Saturday nights.
