Some additional information about parking in sheffield, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

On-street parking in Sheffield can be difficult, but there are a lot of on-street spaces made available to visiting drivers. The city centre is split into 3 distinct Controlled Parking Zones enforced by Sheffield City Council. Each zone operates from 8am-8.30pm, Monday-Sunday, but the more expensive parking charges for pay-and-display bays are found in the central zone 1 – with the outer zone 3 being particularly affordable.

You can use the JustPark map to find information about on-street parking options across Sheffield and see what’s available.

  • Off-street parking

There are a vast amount of off-street car parks throughout the city of Sheffield – both council and commercially operated – and most charge an attractive hourly rate.

One such competitively-priced location is Wellington Street multi-storey car park (Wellington Street, Sheffield, S1 4HF) operated by NPC. It opens from 6am-midnight, Monday-Saturday, and from 9.30am-midnight on Sundays – a large multi-storey that’s located pretty conveniently for the city centre.

There are also multiple park and ride sites serving Sheffield, perfect for those that want to commute into the city in an eco-friendly and less stressful way. More details, including locations and prices, can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire website.

JustPark offers a choice of reservable off-street spaces across Sheffield – in both council and commercially-run car parks, as well as at hotels, offices and on private driveways. You can browse these options and book a guaranteed space via our website or app.

  • Public transport

Sheffield station is the principal train station serving the city and provides National Rail services to and from the length and breadth of the country.

Sheffield is a great city for public transport, with a fantastic network of trams and buses – making journeys to anywhere in the city pretty easy.

  • Disabled parking

Disabled drivers displaying their Blue Badge may park in on-street pay-and-display bays without time limit and free of charge.

Blue Badge holders may also park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours if necessary, as long as there are no loading bans signposted and there is no obstruction to traffic.

You can also filter when searching on JustPark to show all our parking spaces with disabled access in Sheffield (select this option by clicking on ‘Filters’ on the search results page).

  • Parking restrictions & event days

Sheffield City Council have implemented 3 Controlled Parking Zones in the city centre primarily to keep traffic flowing. These zones don’t so much prohibit parking though, as there are still plenty of options for visiting drivers wanting to park on-street. The general rule is that the more central you park, the more expensive and limited pay-and-display spaces will be. All zones operate from 8am-8.30pm, Monday-Sunday.

Special restrictions are often put in place for match days at either Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium to the north of the city, or at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane football stadium. It is crucial to be aware of the match schedule, as congestion in the city centre and around the inner ring road can become particularly bad on match days.

On the JustPark map, we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in at the times that you search for.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

In general, parking restrictions apply on all days including on all weekends and the majority of Bank Holidays.

Overnight parking is available at several off-street car parks throughout the city, but do be aware that quite a few car parks in Sheffield will close overnight – so 24hr access may not always be possible.

Enter your dates and times on our search results page to see what’s available overnight.
