Sophia Gardens is a lovely public park in North Cardiff on the River Taff. It is a large green space to the northwest of the city centre, providing city dwellers with the perfect escape. Perhaps the most appealing attraction here though is the Sophia Gardens cricket ground, which hosts International Test matches as well as serving as the home for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. If none of that’s to your fancy, you can enjoy the neighbouring Bute Park or wander on over to Cardiff Castle.
