Additional Information

Some additional information about parking in redbridge, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

On-street parking is permitted in Redbridge wherever there are no yellow or red lines, and no bays subject to a residential or business permit. Redbridge is a very mixed borough, and in many less built-up areas, drivers can park on the street at no cost and with no time limit. This does not apply, however, in areas of the borough with concentrations of shops, office buildings, factories and houses; in other words, those places where most people will want to stop most often. If using a parking space in such an area, take note of the restrictions and maximum stay indicated on the sign.

  • Off-street parking

There are 20 council-operated car parks in Redbridge. All are open 24/7, including bank holidays; all charge between certain hours and are free the rest of the time, and all are free on bank holidays. They can be found in:

Barkingside (two car parks, a total of 276 parking spaces)

Chadwell Heath (two car parks, a total of 181 parking spaces)

    Gants Hill (192 parking spaces)

    Goodmayes (75 parking spaces)

Ilford (four car parks, a total of 953 parking spaces)

    Seven Kings (170 parking spaces)

South Woodford (six car parks, a total of 251 parking spaces)

    Wanstead (76 parking spaces)

Woodford (two car parks, a total of 315 parking spaces)
  • Public transport

TfL/Crossrail services are available from the following stations:

    Ilford

    Seven Kings

    Goodmayes

    Chadwell Heath

Central Line Underground Services are available from 11 stations. London buses operate throughout the borough.

  • Disabled parking

    Blue Badge holders can park:

For a strict maximum of three hours on single or double yellow lines where no loading restrictions apply

For an unlimited time in pay-and-display, disabled and shared use parking bays
  • Parking restrictions & event days

Redbridge has controlled parking zones (CPZs) in which parking is controlled during certain times. Although there are 25 CPZs throughout the borough, they are all fairly small, (the largest is in South Woodford), and the great majority of the borough in terms of area is unaffected. Single yellow lines mean no parking during the hours specified on a sign at the location. Double yellow lines always mean no parking at any time.

Nine sections of road in Redbridge are part of Red Routes. They are marked by double red lines, and the general rule is that only licensed taxis and Blue Badge holders can stop, and then usually only to load or unload or to set down or pick up a passenger. Where they do exist, parking spaces on red routes are clearly marked.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

Parking is free everywhere in Redbridge on bank holidays, and there is no enforcement of single yellow lines, except where loading restrictions are also present.

  • Drop-off and pick-up

Unless loading restrictions are indicated by kerb markings, drivers can stop to set down and pick up (but not wait for) passengers on yellow markings. This right extends to red markings for Blue Badge holders.
