London's Busiest Weeks: Book Ahead
Between now and the new year, London's parking gets tighter at predictable moments:
October half term: most London schools break from 26 to 30 October, though dates vary by borough and school. Museums, the West End and family days out all fill up.
Black Friday, Friday 27 November: the shops and Oxford Street area get busy, and spaces close to the action go first.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, 19 November to 3 January: open daily except Christmas Day, so Hyde Park, Marble Arch and Paddington stay in demand for weeks.
Bonfire Night: fireworks displays across the capital mean busy streets, so see where to watch and where to park.
Christmas shopping and festive days out: weekends in December are the pinch point, so reserve early.
Reserving ahead means that by the time the crowds arrive, your space is already yours.
London Parking Charges: Congestion Charge and ULEZ
Parking in a London car park or driveway doesn't exempt you from the charges for driving in the capital, so check these before you go:
Congestion Charge: £18 a day to drive in the zone between 07:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, and 12:00 to 18:00 on weekends and bank holidays. There's no charge between Christmas Day and New Year's Day bank holiday (inclusive). Electric vehicles are no longer exempt, though discounts apply with Auto Pay.
ULEZ: £12.50 a day if your vehicle doesn't meet the emissions standards. It operates 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas Day, across all London boroughs.
Many listings state whether the space is inside or outside the Congestion Charge zone, so you can plan around it. Check the TfL website to confirm what applies to your vehicle.
Parking in London: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I park in London?
You can park in car parks, private driveways, church and supermarket spaces and on-street bays across the capital. The easiest way to guarantee a spot is to reserve a space in London before you travel, so you know exactly where you're going and what it costs.
How much does parking in London cost?
It depends on where and when. On JustPark, London parking starts from £1.10 an hour and £4.70 a day, with monthly parking from £58.70. Central areas cost more than outer ones: Westminster starts at £2.30 an hour, Hyde Park at £2.90, and Canary Wharf at £1.20.
Where can I park for free in London?
Free parking in central London is rare, and it varies by borough. Some streets allow free parking outside controlled hours or on Sundays, but always check the signs, because restrictions can change from one street to the next. If you'd rather be certain, reserving a low-cost space in advance avoids the search.
Do I have to pay the Congestion Charge or ULEZ if I park in London?
The charges apply to driving in the zones, not to where you park. The Congestion Charge is £18 during its operating hours, and ULEZ is £12.50 a day for non-compliant vehicles. Check your vehicle on the TfL website before you travel.
Can I book parking in central London in advance?
Yes. Search for your destination, compare spaces, and reserve in a few taps, with your details and directions saved in one place. Booking ahead means a verified space is waiting when you arrive.
Can I find accessible and EV-friendly parking in London?
Yes. Blue Badge holders can find and reserve accessible spaces in the JustPark app, and some car parks have EV charge points. Check the listing details, and book ahead, as these spaces are limited.
Do You Live in London? Earn Extra Income from Your Empty Space
London drivers are always looking for somewhere to park. If you have a driveway, garage or private space that sits empty during the day, you could rent it out with JustPark and turn it into income. Listing takes less than 10 minutes, and you stay in control of when your space is available.

London is better when parking is one less thing to think about. Download the JustPark app, reserve your space in a few taps, and arrive calm, certain and ready for the day. Whether it's half term, Black Friday or a festive day out, your space is waiting.
