Information about parking near Brent Cross

Brent Cross is part of the London Borough of Barnet in the extreme north of London. Near to, but not in, the London Borough of Brent, it is best known for its large shopping centre and very heavy traffic stemming from junctions between the North Circular Road, the M1, the A5 and the A41. In a sense, it has always been a junction since its name comes from an old crossroads near the River Bren. The river is now canalised along this stretch. Parking in Brent Cross is so weighted towards the shopping centre that the answer most people will give to the question: Where to park in Brent Cross? is Brent Cross. The size of the area, though, is such that that would mean a long walk for some people and so alternatives must also be considered.

Additional Information

Some additional information about parking in brent cross, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

The bulk of the on-street parking in Brent Cross is restricted to those holding a parking permit, but that does not rule out the possibility of parking there for others.

  • Off-street parking

Parking in Brent Cross is dominated by the Brent Cross Shopping Centre which is free and unlimited. This is set to change, however. At present, parking at Brent Cross Shopping Centre is as follows:

Multi-storey car park, 3,930 parking spaces, open 10:00 am to 20:00 pm hours Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 20:00 pm hours Saturday and 1200 am to 1800 pm Sunday.

John Lewis Car Park, 688 parking spaces, open 10:00 am to 20:00 pm hours Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 20:00 am hours Saturday and 12:00 am to 18:00 pm on Sunday.

Fenwick Car Park, 507 parking spaces, open 08:30 am to 21:30 pm hours Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 21:30 pm hours Saturday and 10:30 am to 19:30 pm on Sunday.

The shopping centre is being refurbished and extended, however, and when the extension is completed in 2022 there will be 150 new shops, 50 additional restaurants and a new state of the art cinema. This represents an approximate doubling of the current size, there will be three new multi-storey car parks – but parking spaces will be chargeable.

  • Public transport

Like most things in Brent Cross, public transport and the shopping centre are closely intertwined in that there is a bus station from which it is possible to travel to any part of London (though it may be necessary to change buses) and to many towns to the north of London. The bus station will be enlarged as part of the 2022 extension. There is also an underground railway station a short walk away on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line in Travelcard Zone 3; while it does have its own car park, there are only 10 parking spaces.

  • Disabled parking

Parking is free for Blue Badge holders at the shopping centre and in on-street parking bays.

  • Parking restrictions & event days

Brent Cross is, apart from the shopping centre, predominantly residential in nature and the most important parking restrictions are those that reserve parking spaces for residents.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

Parking is free on bank holidays in on-street parking bays.

  • Drop-off and pick-up

Drivers are permitted to stop to set down and pick up passengers anywhere not marked by yellow kerb markings indicated no loading or unloading.
