“Why does that person get to go quicker than I do?”

That’s what one fan asked an attendant at American Airlines Center (AAC) on October 5, the night AAC launched JustPark Plate Validator at a Dallas Stars game. The answer was simple: that driver had bought a parking pass and added their license plate before the event, so Plate Validator cleared them the moment they pulled into the lot, with no need to stop.

What is Plate Validator?

Plate Validator is JustPark’s license plate recognition (LPR) for event parking. It’s an add-on to JustPark Prime, our handheld device for parking attendants to validate passes and take payments on site.

Fans register their license plate when they buy parking. On arrival, a portable camera reads the plate and sends the result to the attendant’s Prime device down the lane, so registered fans are waved straight through.

Unlike traditional LPR, there are no fixed cameras to install. Venues set up the camera right before an event and can move it to whichever entrance fits that day’s operation.

Built with the venues that use it

AAC has run its event parking on JustPark Prime for years, and in 2026 it added JustPark Passes to pre-sell event parking and named JustPark its official parking partner. That trust made AAC a natural partner for the Plate Validator beta. AAC tested early versions in its lots and helped refine the offering before launch. Today, AAC has scaled its use of Plate Validator across Stars and Mavericks games as well as concerts, and it continues to see strong results.
