Information about parking in Southampton
Driving to and parking in Southampton
Southampton is served by both the M27 (from east to west) and M3 (from the north), and has a number of trunk roads which lead directly from the motorways into the city centre. Parking in the city centre is quite plentiful although it can get busy during the weekends, so we recommend pre-booking your space in advance.
One of the most popular places to park in the city centre is at the West Quay shopping centre where there are over 4,000 spaces. The multi storey car park there is open between 5:30am and 10pm and the tariff is as follows:
- 2 hours - £2
- 3 hours - £3
- 4 hours - £4
- Over 4 hours - £5
There is also a large amount of on-street parking in the city centre, most of which can be found on the streets leading off from London Road and the High Street. The council have provided a detailed map of all of the short stay, long stay and multi storey parking options within the city.
There are no park and ride facilities in Southampton.
Private Parking options:

Bank Holiday Parking:
Charges apply to all city council car parks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the only exceptions being Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
There are a number of free motorcycle parking bays across the city. If all motorcycle bays are full and you chose to park in a regular spot then you will need to buy a pay and display ticket.
Drivers displaying a Blue Badge can park for free in all Southampton City Council surface car parks and on-street parking bays. There are also a number of dedicated disabled parking spaces around the city centre.
