Driving to Peterborough station is quite straightforward as it is located very near to the nation-spanning A1 just off the A15 Bourges Boulevard.
On-street parking around the station is very limited with most on-street spaces nearby reserved solely for resident permit holders. However, there are a number of off-street parking options to choose from – including nearby Long Stay parking.

Peterborough station is encircled by busy roads and the city centre to its east and residential permit holder areas to the west. As a result, on-street parking near to the station can be quite difficult with most nearby streets prohibiting parking.
There are a very limited number of on-street pay-and-display spaces nearby on Priestgate – a short walk to the south of the station. Charges apply from 8am-6.30pm Monday-Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sundays but a maximum stay of 30 minutes is enforced during times of operation.

Virgin Trains East Coast operate 3 Long Stay and 1 on-site Short Stay car park for Peterborough station. The largest Long Stay car park is located on-site (Station Road, Peterborough, PE1 1QL) just by the Short Stay location. This car park operates 24 hours a day Monday-Sunday and offers a quite reasonable daily rate.
Another of these car parks is located just north of the station (Mayor’s Walk, PE1 1QL) and although smaller and slightly further away, does offer a marginally cheaper daily rate as well as the option for reasonably priced Short Stay parking.

Peterborough station is a major interchange for train services from all over the UK and forms part of the East Coast Main Line under an hour away from London Kings Cross. Peterborough bus station is located just a few minutes walk away and provides expansive transport links within the city and the surrounding area.
Disabled drivers displaying their Blue Badge may park in any on-street pay-and-display spaces for free and without time limit but normal parking tariffs will apply when parking in any council car park. However, Blue Badge holders may not park in resident permit or permit holder bays at any time.
Much like the rest of the UK though, Blue Badge holders can park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours as long as there is no loading ban signalled on location or on any clear obstruction to bus services.

There are quite stringent parking restrictions in the streets surrounding Peterborough station. Most of the nearby residential streets to the west of the station are permit holder restricted at all times and on all days. This, coupled with the fact that the station is located quite centrally, near to major roads and the main shopping centre, means that parking on-street is not recommended with a very limited number of pay-and-display spaces available for visiting drivers.

The designated drop-off and pick-up area is specified as being in conjunction with the on-site Short Stay car park which is free to park for the first 20 minutes with a maximum stay of 1 hour.
Peterborough Station is pretty much in the heart of Peterborough city centre leaving you with plenty of choice as to what to do. A few minutes walk out from the main entrance will bring you to the wondrous Queensgate shopping centre – a large indoor mall with a great choice of shops and restaurants. If you follow the road that brought you there further South, you will reach the Peterborough Museum which is within a beautiful Georgian townhouse and is an awesome experience through history.
