The station is on the East Coast Main Line and intersected by the Cross Country route and several North of England services. Seven train operators pass through Doncaster, which is only matched by Crewe in the UK.

The nearest on-street parking to Doncaster railway station is at Spring Gardens, where there are 10 pay-and-display spaces with a maximum one-hour stay. This is only a five-minute walk to the station, but there are other on-street sites less than 15 minutes away.
Some on-street spaces in the station area have a 30-minute maximum stay, which is not ideal during peak hours for station visitors, but they are free during early morning or late evening. Longer on-street durations of two or four hours are possible at sites such as Horsefair Green or College Road. Both are about 15 minutes’ walking distance away from the station.
Parking for 73 cars is available at the Doncaster station car park. The charge is £2 per hour or £16 daily, which applies Monday to Friday. The first 20 minutes are free. At the weekend, there’s a flat £6 charge per day.
Additional off-street parking near Doncaster station includes the St James car park with 300 spaces. That’s less than 10 minutes away on foot and prices are £1.75 for four hours or £3 for 10 hours. This car park is free on Sundays.

Near Doncaster railway station is the Frenchgate Interchange, which has over 30 bus bays connecting Doncaster to nearby locations. The proximity of the Frenchgate Shopping Centre to the bus and train stations makes it a popular location for shoppers.

All council-run car parks in Doncaster have standard operating hours of 8 am to 6 pm from Monday to Saturday. Outside these times, they are free. Fees are payable by cash or phone. Some residential roads in Doncaster such as St James Street are limited to short stays of one or two hours.
Bank holidays count as Sundays in Doncaster’s council car parks, as well as some privately owned ones such as St James. Hence, many are free to use.
