How to explore the best of Brighton in the summer months

A dynamic, cosmopolitan city that is home to a number of popular attractions and activities gives plenty of reasons to visit Brighton.

Brighton provides the perfect opportunity to soak up the sun in those precious UK summer months.

Being only an hour outside of London by train or car and offering a breadth of outdoor activities, the seaside city appeals to a wide range of visitors.

Many visit for the refreshing sea breeze and panoramic ocean views, creating its popularity as a tourist destination for city dwellers. Those eager to explore Brighton’s rich history can meander around the city and admire a breadth of architectural styles and royal heritage. Or maybe you’re looking for a thriving music and art scene? Whether it is indie, folk, jazz, metal or any style no matter how niche, there’ll be something that Brighton can offer. Keep your eyes peeled when exploring, Brighton boasts hidden gems all over the city!

Feel the energy of the seaside city at Brighton pier

Brighton boasts one of the UK’s (if not the most) famous coastlines, with pebble beaches, a range of restaurants / seaside bars and the iconic Brighton Palace Pier

At the main pier, you will find amusements, every seaside/funfair treat you could possibly imagine, parlour games and a host of rides. It is every child and young-at-heart adult’s dream. Once finished, take a leisurely walk along the promenade, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the English Channel.  If you need a cool down, why not take a dip in the English channel?

One not to miss if you’re feeling brave is Brighton’s Beachfront Zipline. Glide 300 metres along Brighton beach, feel the wind in your hair and enjoy spectacular views.

Quick tip: There’s a ghost of the past in plain sight. Just to the west of the current pier, lies the once-smouldering ruins of the West Pier, a pier that burnt down in 2003. The former pier has become something of a tourist attraction itself, with the remains being a favourite muse for artists.

Experience everything the Lanes has to offer

The Brighton Lanes are a must-visit for all travellers. The South Lanes offers a maze of alleyways with independent stores, from quirky boutiques to antique jewellery shops. If you’re a fan of thrifting / vintage shopping, the North Lanes are the place to be with suggestions including, Snoopers Paradise, Beyond Retro and Dirty Harry Clothing

If you’re looking to sit down for a break, North Lane has one of the largest selections of independent shops on England’s South Coast, and is a perfect spot to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. You can also have your pick of cuisines from New York style bagels to authentic Japanese to vegan and gluten-free bakeries.

It is worth a minute to stop and look around with the numerous street performances coupled with interesting historical architecture. The blend of impromptu entertainment and charming buildings provides a character to Brighton which I am yet to see elsewhere.

Explore the beautiful gardens of the Royal Pavilion

Conveniently located in the heart of Brighton, the Royal Pavilion provides a clear view into a rich history of this seaside town. Walk about the beautifully landscaped Royal Pavilion Gardens, and explore the intricate details, domes, and minarets as a peaceful escape from the bustling city.

Better yet, organise your trip to attend exhibitions and events held within the Pavilion to delve deeper into Brighton's cultural heritage.
