We’re the winners of the V-Innovate 2020 award

Our hybrid parking solution for West Wittering beach has won the V-Innovate 2020 award. Find out more.

We have great news to share. Our hybrid parking solution for West Wittering beach has won the V-Innovate 2020 award. This award is part of the BPA’s virtual Parkex Innovation Trail. A big thank you to all our peers across the industry who have voted for us.

An innovative solution in a short space of time

Post lockdown, West Wittering beach (introduced to us by our partner NewPark) wanted to open their site responsibly to keep their staff, the public and local community safe. The solution was to control the number of visitors. With no other parking in the village or nearby, they decided to limit the number of vehicles in their car park and as a result, the people on the beach.

Within days of consulting with West Wittering, our technology team designed a hybrid solution that combines cashless and pre-book parking. We also introduced a daily cap on parking sessions, so West Wittering could manage demand.

After 30 minutes of going live online, drivers bought over 1,000 sessions. And in the first seven days, they had over 15,000 bookings for the coming weeks and months.

A best-practice example

Since then, the UK government has listed our hybrid solution as a best-practice example. This follows our successful campaign to offer free parking to NHS and key workers during the Covid-19 pandemic – and we’re delighted to still support the relief effort.

Always thinking of ways to do better for customers

Last year we won the Parkex Innovation Award for our Blue Badge solution. So winning again this year proves that we’re always hard at work to improve the customer experience and build more trust in our brand and the parking industry.
