Some additional information about parking in birmingham, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

On-street pay-and-display rates generally start at around £1.00 per hour in the Outer, Eastside and Jewellery Quarter Controlled Parking Zones – but from £2.00 per hour in the Inner city zone. These spaces are typically in operation from 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday but the Eastside and Inner zones operate a little later until 7.30pm (including Sundays in Inner CPZ).

You can use the JustPark parking map to find information on available on-street parking spaces in Birmingham.

  • Off-street parking

There are lots of off-street and multi-storey car parks to choose from in Birmingham. One of the largest multi-storeys on offer is NCP’s Birmingham High Street car park (High Street, Dale End, Birmingham, B4 7LN) which offers competitive rates and over 1,000 parking spaces all just a short walk from the city’s central shopping district.

Alternatively, Birmingham City Council run several car parks in the city centre which provide similar parking rates. For cost and convenience, visitors to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter should look no further than the Jewellery Quarter multi-storey car park (Jewellery Quarter, B18 6LP) – you can find more information on prices and availability for this location on JustPark.

Birmingham is also served by multiple rail park and ride locations all over the West Midlands – from Wolverhampton to Coventry – if you seek an alternative cost-effective way of travelling into the city.

JustPark also offer hundreds of reservable off-street spaces across the city, from driveways to car parks – with a particularly good selection to choose from near The Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Birmingham City Football Club’s St. Andrews Stadium.

  • Public transport

Birmingham has several train stations serving both local transport links and connecting it to the rest of the major UK cities primarily via its principal Birmingham New Street station. This is not to be confused with Birmingham International railway station which is not actually located in Birmingham, but in nearby Solihull along with Birmingham airport – a short drive East from the city centre.

  • Disabled parking

Accessible spaces are widely available in Birmingham, with a number of options open to disabled drivers.

Parking is free for Blue Badge holders in any off-street council car park and in all of the city’s on-street pay-and-display spaces with no maximum stay.

Blue Badge holders may also park on single or double yellow lines for a maximum of 3 hours where there is no signalled loading ban.

You can also filter when searching on JustPark to show all our parking spaces with disabled access in Birmingham (select this option by clicking on ‘Filters’ on the search results page).

  • Parking restrictions & event days

Most streets within the boundary of the A4540 ring road surrounding Birmingham are within Controlled Parking Zones. In these zones, parking is limited to the available signposted pay-and-display bays around the city.

It is also worth being aware of heightened congestion and limited parking availability on days when there are matches on at either Aston Villa’s Villa Park and Birmingham City’s St. Andrews stadium. With both stadiums located close to the city centre, be sure to factor check event schedules because driving to and parking in Birmingham on match days can become slightly more challenging.

On the JustPark map, we’ll only show you spaces which you’re allowed to park in and are not restricted at the times you search for.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

In the Outer, Eastside and Jewellery Quarter controlled parking zones, on-street pay-and-display does not operate on Sundays – but in the Inner city zone, charges apply on all days from 8am-7.30pm.

All on-street parking charges, however, do not apply on any Bank Holidays.

Many of Birmingham’s off-street car parks do offer overnight parking – for example, the majority of NCP car parks operate 24 hours a day. A special rate of fare is usually on offer after a certain time in the evening, or usually if you wish to park for more than 6 hours.

Enter your dates and times on our search results page to see what’s available overnight.

  • Nearby attractions

Being the second largest UK city, Birmingham does not disappoint when it comes to things for you to see and do. You can enjoy the beauty of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens or the hustle and bustle of the city when shopping in the contemporary Bullring shopping centre.

The city also has a rich history of sporting rivalry, with 9 football clubs playing in the top two tiers of professional football – all within an hour’s drive away from the centre of Birmingham. Two of these teams have fantastic stadiums close to the city centre, in Aston Villa’s Villa Park and Birmingham City’s St. Andrews stadium.
