York station is located in the very centre of York – best accessed via the A59 from the A1, or via the LeedsScarborough A64 by taking one of the many off-shoot roads into the city centre.

Parking around York station can be quite challenging, due to the busy narrow streets that make up the city as a result of its medieval layout. Some additional information about parking in york station, to cater to all your parking needs

  • On-street parking

On-street pay-and-display charges typically operate throughout York from 8am-6pm every day – and many of the streets surrounding the station are limited to paid-for parking only. Parking on-street near York station can be quite difficult as many of the surrounding roads are narrow busy bus routes, or completely pedestrianised as you move further into the centre. All pay-and-display spaces enforce a maximum stay of 2 hours before 3pm – but for the spaces that are available, charges are reasonably affordable.

To find information about on-street parking near York station and see when it’s available, use our online parking map.

  • Off-street parking

There is a large on-site car park a few hundred yards south of the main entrance. York Station Long Stay car park (Station Road, YO24 1AB) offers an affordable daily rate and is open 24 hours a day, Monday-Sunday – perfect for those needing to park their car for a considerable length of time.

Another alternative just a couple of minutes walk further south is York Station South (24 Queen Street, YO24 1AD) operated by NPC. This serves as another off-street option, open 24/7, and may prove a better choice if you are not looking to stay parked for the full day.

  • Disabled parking

There are a limited amount of disabled spaces available in the off-street car parks throughout York, but 6 are available in the on-site Long Stay car park.

York does provide some designated disabled bays throughout the city – but if necessary, disabled drivers displaying their Blue Badge may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, as long as there is no obvious obstruction to traffic and no clearly signalled loading bans.

You can filter when searching on JustPark to show all our parking spaces with disabled access around York station (select this option by clicking ‘Filters’ on the search results page).

  • Parking restrictions & event days

All pay-and-display spaces enforce a 2 hour maximum stay before 3pm and there is a limited number available nearby. The station is in very close to the old walled city, in which many of the streets are pedestrianised for much of the day. From 10.30am-5.30pm each day, you are unable to park on many of the streets in York – so be sure to pay attention to signage.

On the JustPark map, we’ll only show you spaces which are not restricted between the times you search for, so you know you’re legally parked.

  • Overnight, weekends & bank holidays

On-street pay-and-display spaces operate from a later time of 1pm-6pm on Sundays, but Bank Holidays are generally no different to weekdays when it comes to parking rates.

Enter your dates and times on our search results page to see what’s available overnight.

  • Drop-off and pick-up

The designated drop-off and pick-up point is outside the main front entrance on Station Road, but if this area is congested or you need more time to load/unload there is a Short stay car park available just off Station Road – a few hundred yards north of the main entrance.
