Information about parking near Newcastle Station
Newcastle Central Station was opened in 1850, when Newcastle was at the height of its prosperity, which still shows today. The portico on Neville Street is a Grade I listed building and the whole structure retains an air of grandeur. Right beside it is the new Stephenson Quarter with office buildings, a college and a hotel. But where to park at Newcastle Station?
Some additional information about parking in newcastle station, to cater to all your parking needs
The first thing to be said is that parking right outside the station, except to drop off and pick up, is out of the question. The road is too busy, and the police and traffic wardens too vigilant. And make sure the person you’re picking up is already outside – don’t leave your car while you look for them. Having said that, provided that you can walk for at least five minutes, Newcastle has 2,200 on-street parking spaces available. This is not a city that discourages motorists, and it’s blessed with wide roads in the centre. Parking spaces are Pay and Display, or you can pay with your mobile phone. Parking near Newcastle Station will be charged between 09:00 and 18:30 every day, except Christmas Day. The Alive After Five programme for off-street parking does not apply to on-street parking.
