Space description

Single entry
Lighting
Well located centrally for all the best that Southsea has to offer, my parking space is safely and securely positioned behind a block of nine flats, out of sight from passing public. Security sensor lighting is installed.

Location: 2 minutes walk to Palmerston and Osbourne Roads' shops, restaurants and bars. 5 minutes walk to Southsea sea front, D-Day Museum, Albert Road and the King's Theatre. 20-25 minutes walk / 6-7 minutes in a taxi to Gun Wharf Quay, the IoW ferry terminal, Fratton train station or Fratton Park football ground.

Details: The space is located behind the block of flats; so the parking / cars can't be seen from the road. Access is on the left side of the building as you approach it from the road. My space is numbered 8; this is painted on the tarmac. The second space from the far end. The building has several sensor lights in place, for added security and also useful if you arrive or leave in the dark.

Info: The parking space is a regular size but access / exit (turning circle) to spaces is a bit tight. This just means sometimes a little bit of to-ing and fro-ing is required to enter / exit. If you’ve got well adjusted wing mirrors and parking sensors it’s pretty easy however!

Reviews about this space

Fabiola K3rd September 2023
It is tight getting. In and out with a big car, but we did manage to get the land rover in and out. Getting out was a bit harder and if other parking spots were full, it could have been quite tricky. Great location, convenient and felt safe, Thankyou to my host for making spot available.

Honestly, do not book this spot. Location is great if you want the theatre but my car alarm went off and someone tried to get into it. A nightmare to get into which I anticipated, but to then have my car try to be broken into in broad daylight, not worth it.

Good local very close to the seafront. Parking was a little tight, probably not suitable for a large car, but was fine for ours. Easy to find, good directions.

Great parking space and very close to high street and sea front. Space was behind the building which meant it felt safe leaving it there. As described, it's more suitable for a smaller vehicle so I had no issues parking. Thank you!

Good space! I will use it again.

As promised, a bit tight getting to the parking space. The location was excellent.

I wouldn’t advise parking here. You had to park second from the end and when I arrived back late at night the third car along was a large car that made it very difficult to get out. Was very difficult and was afraid I would scrape my car The description about it being tight was very accurate and honest. Only come here wit a fiat uno or smart car! Thanks anyway.

The description does warn that it takes a little manouevring and it was fairly tight for our Merc C200. The space (on the right in the picture) was occupied which meant quite a few 'to and fro's' before I was correctly in the space. If the space on the left had also been occupied I'm not sure I would have made it. I'm not complaining - it was correctly described and the space is perfectly placed for a walk around Southsea and also felt very secure. I would say that any car that's longer than ours may find it just about impossible...but it's perfect for any shorter car and that's probably the majority. A five star review for reasons of convenience, safety and the honesty of the description.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this space for any car other than a very small hatchback. Whilst it may be possible to park a larger car here, you are reliant on no large cars being parked on either side of the space. If as was the case for us, there is an SUV parked next to you (and another car parked the other side), it would take a miracle to park without damaging your car (which unfortunately we did due to there being a large step in front of the parking space making turning almost impossible). Luckily the SUV wasn’t there when we left, otherwise getting out would probably have been even more difficult than getting into the space. We left with deep scratches to one of our alloys and under the wheel arch.

Seemed very safe and secure but I found it very difficult to get in and out of the space with a bigger car. If you do this sort of parking often it might be easier or if you have a spare person to guide you or side parking sensors etc - also a small car would be fine. For me, though it took much too long to get in and out and I wouldn't park here again.
