The Tudor palace of Hampton Court sits on a bend in the Thames overlooking the three-way boundary of southerly Surrey and the London boroughs of Richmond and Kingston. This old residence of King Henry VIII is a magnificent site with its walls and gardens covering a great expanse for you to explore. Kingston-upon-Thames can be found via an hour-long, incredibly beautiful walk downstream along the Thames – but that’s only if the site of Hampton Court Palace itself isn’t enough for you.
